Improved Knight Townscreen

Posted by Kivo1991 on January 17, 2014 at 3:05 PM

We are currently working on improving the overall look of the towncreens. Here is the old mod's Knight Townscreen version and the most recent one, nearing completion. We also changed the Crossbowman/Marksman dwelling, the fields to the building by the castle.

Wauw, that is amazingly well done! What a lovely surprise. It looks fantastic!!! I really like everything, it looks a lot more rich in details and is much better filled out on the screen! Great job!

i don't see the point in replacing old graphics with new and adding signs, flowers etc. shouldnt you just add some village buildings which spawn when you upgrade town hall to capitol? still it looks nice and the new mg is really cute ;P And i really like the bottom of the screen with stables, well, this little bush, armory and blacksmith, looks very pretty

Upgrading the screen and modifying the buildings is necessary just because the old screen has randomly scattered buildings and cheap art. Our new variant is more atmospheric and has many stuff to fill the space. It will be further improved later.

It will be a new Town Hall. It is currently on its third level, but the Capitol will have enhancements.

It is much better than having the Thieves' Guild as the town hall. That didn't really work out imo.

So very huge difference edited between old and the new Knight Town design. The Crossbowman Training Ground is replaced with Shin Kalu's previous design which dwelling provided Bishops. What happens with Crossbowmen? The mage guild is placed it's old H2 location next to Paladins/Crusaders dwelling. Half of the marketplace tents disappeared in order to take place some more detailed roadways. Fabulous! It's silo model has been updated also. Where the Tavern was before, now there is a tree and the Tavern is been placed to the left side of Marketplace. With this solution, Rangers dwelling is placed to the other side of the road. Stable is been updated with a wider door. It looks very nice with the signpost behind it. Peasant Hut's second floor replaced with haystacks and farmer ground added. These Peasant/Brute dwelling desings are make me surprised cause of how original compare to the units it provides. As I see at the left, The Town Center became a Thieves Guild again since it got back it's old form and the flag disappeared from there and placed to the right giant building which is probably a Capitol cause of it's huge size above the Shipyard. The new Town Center seems very unpredictible what part of the Center actually is that, but tasty and detailed. Swordsmen/Master Swordsmen dwelling, nothing changes, Cavalries/Champions dwelling, nothing changes, Pikemen/Veteran Pikemen one takes place a little bit further from the Swordsmen one and this is what makes them nicer since Pikemen building has a small amount of shadow at the right thanks to it, the well, (just like in original H2) is living it's own life again separately, it was also a good choice of the creators. At last we have arrived. The old statue which was connected to the old version Town Center with green colour, now it's also a separate dwelling again as it looks like. The Castle itself is like the old one. Summarizing the whole part of this progress: Loyalty is a great word to this, since the most dwellings return it's old form like the original H2 had it, but on the same time the creators made some sidestep to re-edit existing ones better than it was before or creating new ones to complete the Knight Town. Best Regard! - Huntie
